PSC Operation – Propeller Shaft Clutch

The propeller shaft is coupled and uncoupled with the RENK PSC.

This can be done in 3 different ways.

  • Manual (dis) coupling on site in the engine room by manual operation of the hydraulically assisted coupling with the gearbox
  • Semi-automatic (dis) coupling in the engine room by manual operation of the hydraulically assisted coupling with the gearbox
  • Fully automatic (dis) coupling from the control room by operating the hydraulically assisted coupling with the gearbox

PSC Functions

  • Backlash-free transmission of the torque by means of hardened and ground teeth with a small conicity.
  • Thrust transmission to the thrust block

Additional carrier bearings are not required
