HamiltonJets supplied by AMW put into operation by NIOZ at Next Generation Shipyards.

Recently research vessel RV Adriaen Coenen was christened at Next Generation Shipyards in Lauwersoog, where the vessel was built. AMW Marine was proud to contribute to this project with the delivery of two HamiltonJets, type HJ403 and AVXexpress control system.

The vessel is intended for research into climate change and biodiversity in the Wadden Sea and is part of the national research fleet. Sustainability was an important consideration during the development and construction of the vessel. The limited draught of the ship in combination with water jets makes it possible to fall dry. The use of water jets results in a quieter boat with less vibration, which leads to a better acoustic profile, ideal for nautical research.

RV Adriaen Coenen is one of the first vessels in the world to be equipped with the very latest HamiltonJet AVXexpress control system. This compact control system provides precise steering at all speeds. Intuitive manoeuvring at low speed is done with a Mouse Boat Module.

The vessel is also equipped with Hamilton JETanchor and Station Keeping. Station Keeping gives the operator the possibility to automatically keep the ship in position independent of wind and current. JETanchor gives the possibility to enter a virtual anchor point, which keeps the ship in the most efficient way within a radius of the entered anchor point. Extremely pleasant functionalities that allow the operator to work more efficiently.
